Who is Greg? WHO IS GREG? Come on, don’t tell me you don’t know who this amazing Early Breakfast DJ is?! Well, for those that don’t know, born on 17th December 1985, Greg James is the host of the Early Breakfast show on international BBC Radio 1 who recently took over after the departure of JK & Joel. My first time hearing was when he played the theme tune to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and I just remember it because it just so happens that I love that show and that it was such an odd place and time.
Greg’s first involvement in DJing started when he was just fourteen years of age, however, even though he did get that show on the local hospital radio, none of his shows were actually broadcasted due to the transmitter being broken. However, good news came up for Greg when he picked up the ‘Best Male Presenter’ award at the Student Radio Awards in 2005 for his work on UEA’s student station, Livewire. Following this, he presented cover shows for the Galaxy network.
Greg hit the Radio 1 airwaves the day he graduated, not bad eh? Just after completing Drama at The University of East Anglia, there was no hurry for the station to put him on during Sara Cox’s, and JK & Joel’s holidays. During this time, he gained a lot of support from listeners and soon became a favorite, being nicknamed “The Gregmister” and “Big Boy.” Following his huge success, he was given the Early Breakfast slot in October 2007.
Greg can now be seen as an announcer on Dave TV and has recently appeared on Eastenders as a DJ in the Queen Vic.
